Our innovative Pathways to Wellness program is at the heart of all we do at our Memory Support community. This program takes a holistic approach to support all our residents in their quest to reach their highest potential. The program includes 10 pathways, which work collectively to enrich mind, body and spirit.
Hermitage Three Chopt offers numerous opportunities to remain physically active. From seated Zumba to chair yoga to walking club, our programs are designed to support or enhance physical independence as well as balance.
Some residents are experienced artists. Others have never held a paintbrush. We encourage creative expression for all through painting, coloring and many hands-on arts and crafts projects.
Keeping the mind stimulated is such an important part of your loved one’s dementia journey. At Hermitage Three Chopt, we include activities such as reading aloud with our residents, word association games and baking classes to keep the mind engaged.
Spiritual well-being is about sharing in the journey of life. At Hermitage Three Chopt, we celebrate all spiritual journeys. We are working with community faith organizations to hold regular worship services, Bible lessons, and spiritually focused sing-a-longs.
Thanks to our dementia-specific training and intimate cottage environments, we have the ability to recognize patterns and changes in our residents’ emotions. We meet them wherever they are. Our residents’ emotional health is also supported through opportunities such as yoga, pet therapy, calming music and connecting with nature in our beautiful courtyards, as well as along our winding walking paths.
Many of our residents have a rich history of giving back to the greater community by volunteering for causes important to them. We want to continue these opportunities inside our community. Our residents continue to live a purposeful life by helping in their cottage with tasks that are meaningful to them such as gardening, cooking or tidying. At Hermitage Three Chopt, we are fortunate to have many relationships with community volunteers and organizations to partner with our residents through various activities.
We believe in wholesome foods, along with intentional hydration, promoting healthy, balanced nutrition for everyone through our dining plan. Our residents enjoy a variety of three well-rounded meals per day, snacks and an “available all the time” menu. We accommodate all special dietary needs/restrictions.
Social wellness is achieved through building healthy relationships, connecting with those around you and having a support system of family and friends. At Hermitage Three Chopt, we like to have fun, which makes it easy to stay connected. We boast an open-door policy, encouraging our residents’ families or friends to join us any time.
A healthy mind requires stimulating activities, creative endeavors and problem-solving. Brain fitness can be maintained or improved by regularly exercising the brain through endeavors such as word association games, puzzles or reading.
This pathway encompasses the many meanings of cultivations—gardening, stewardship, following current passions or uncovering new ones, nourishing relationships and more. We encourage our residents to use their talents to provide a greater sense of purpose.
